Joey Wagner, a marine animal rescuer from Nova Scotia, rescued a severely ill pit bull puppy on the brink of death. The mange-infested puppy was taken to the vet to receive the care he so desperately needed, but little did Mojo know that he’d be reunited with his rescuer.

Because of the severity of Mojo’s case, ordinary adoptions were not considered. But that led to the best part of the entire story; Wagner came back to adopt the dog he saved, and the surprise made Mojo very happy!
Today, Mojo is three years old. His coat never fully grew back, but the love he receives from his family is more than enough to keep him warm. It’s so great to see him in his forever home.

While out hiking a scenic trail in Oregon last Monday night photographer, Corey Hancock stumbled upon a three-month-old baby bear.
The poor little bear was in such terrible condition that Hancock knew he was dying.

The baby was barely moving when he first walked up to him, and he appeared to have been abandoned by his mother.


There was no way that Hancock could leave the baby bear there to die. So, he made the decision to rescue him instead and he carried him for over two miles, uncertain whether he would live or die.

At one point he even gave him CPR and the baby took a breath. He was obviously struggling just to keep breathing.

He took the little bear to Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center near Salem, Oregon, where he's currently in the process of recovering from dehydration as well as starvation but he's doing much better now.


There are many animal experts out there who don't agree with Hancock's decision to rescue the little bear. They don't even think that he should have touched the bear.

According to regulations of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the little bear's savior could have been slapped with a $6,000 fine or even spent up to a year in jail.

However, Oregon State Police say that Hancock won't be penalized at all for rescuing the little bear.

An amazing event took place in Indonesia last week. The International Rhino Foundation made an announcement that one of their Sumatran rhinos, a female named Ratu, just gave birth to a female rhino calf. Think that doesn’t necessarily qualify as “amazing”?

Well, think about this: That’s the second Sumatran rhino to be born in Indonesia in over one hundred twenty-eight years. 128 YEARS! Incidentally the first rhino born that broke this century long spell also came from Ratu.

Her son was born in 2012 and was named Andatu. Sumatran rhinos are the single most endangered mammal on the planet. They now only exist in Indonesia, and their population is so small that Ratu’s baby girl counts as a one percent increase in the Sumatran population.

These rhinos are usually solitary and live very spread out. That fact, paired with rampant poaching and habitat destruction have caused the Sumatran population to decline rapidly. The International Rhino Foundation works to support Rhino Protection Units in national parks.

Members of those units spend 15 days out of every month patrolling the parks, checking on the rhinos, and deactivating snares that can harm or kill the large creatures. Everyone working at the Foundation is incredibly excited about the newest member of the Sumatran species.

They all acknowledge that she won’t be able to save the Sumatran species, but for now she’s one extra member, and that’s enough. Plus, she’s an adorable baby animal! Who knew that baby rhinos were so cute? Everyone is excited to see what life brings to this baby girl.

During a night dive last January at Gadren Eel Cove in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; a bottlenose dolphin caught in a fishing line approached scuba diver Keller Laros for help.

The dolphin’s left pectoral fin was stuck, wrapped around fishing line with a hook embedded into its body. The divers, who were well-equipped, signaled the dolphin to come over.

Thanks to Martina Wing this amazing footage was caught on film.

We’ve all had to go through some type of growing pains back when we were young, but a few of us had it worse than others, a lot worse. For a one year old Anatolian Shepherd named Kolina, her growing pains were literally just that. She was born with a spinal condition common in larger breed dogs that’s known as wobbler syndrome, which makes it difficult and painful for her to move. Dog’s who suffer from the disease have compressed spinal cords and sometimes the nerve roots are also compacted tightly together as well.

This is what causes them to experience neurological issues and leads to stiff, painful neck aches. It also causes dogs to walk in a shaky, wobbly manner, while some of them are unable to walk at all. For Kolima, standing is a lot of work and quite painful, so she prefers to lay on her side and crouch low most of the time. Her health problems and difficulties with walking, sitting and standing, and just moving around in general, caused her further issues in terms of her social life.

While most other puppies her age were romping around, chasing each other, and play fighting, Kolima had to sit out. Her wobbliness kept her from doing normal dog things and that made making new friends hard for her. However, life is not as sad and depressing as it may sound for her all thanks to Paolo, Kolima’s best friend in the whole entire world!

As you can see here, Paolo is a donkey and he loves his Anatolian Shepherd friend to pieces! According to the pairs owner, Felice Caputo, Paolo has always been the typical donkey, which is to say he’s “mischievous and stubborn.” When the six year old donkey first met Kolina he barely glanced her way, but then when he saw that she was disabled, something in him changed.

Rather than ignore or write her off, he greets her warmly and plays with her every single day now. The cute couple absolutely adore each other and when you see them play together, you’ll understand the uniquely special bond they share. It’s simply heartwarming and awesome to see, and it’s a true testament to the power of friendship.

Working with wildlife is both risky and rewarding. It can be a difficult job to capture the best pictures of these animals, as well as tiring. One man never expected this would happen when he decided to lie in the grass for a nap.

Dolph Volker is a volunteer at the Cheetah Experience in South Africa, where the population of these big cats are being preserved. They can be extremely shy creatures who don’t take very well to human interruption in their daily lives. But Dolph has been working for months to gain the confidence of these animals, and all of his hard work has paid off.

When he lies in the grass, one of his best cheetah friends comes over and starts licking the side of his neck. Soon the cheetah settles down for a nap beside Dolph and passes out for the rest of the day, purring away. Share away, people!

Richard Meston was at Bicton Park Botanical Gardens near Sidmouth, Devon in England, when he came across a mother swan and her babies.

The cygnets were splashing in the water around their mom. When one started to get tired, he made his way up onto his mom’s back. The mom didn’t seem to mind, and even gave them a nudge to help him up.


Soon after, the other babies followed suit. One by one, they each waddled up their mom’s back and sought shelter under her wing. Once they were all settled in, the mom put down both of her wing’s on top of them as if she were protecting them from falling.

She kept looking back at them to make sure they were all still there. Then she swam across the pond with them.


“Mute swans are very protective of their young and will vigorously defend them from any threats,” said Julia Newth, of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. “But this one is definitely showing the gentler side of her instincts in giving her young a lift on her back.”

The sight of a bald eagle is very rare. When someone spots one off in the distance, there is instant excitement in the air!

So that really makes this video incredibly special, as here is a guy, Alaskan fisherman Jessie Peek, who actually is hand feeding a massive flock of bald eagles who are right in front of him! As the camera pans, it turns out they are all over his boat too!

This truly is a rare experience and it’s a trip watching so many of these majestic birds gather around Jessie for their daily snack.

When you think of a Lynx, chances are a big kitty happily purring in utter contentment does not come to mind! However, that’s exactly how Max the Canada Lynx acts when his caretaker pets him and gives him a nice relaxing head massage. Just like his domestic feline relatives, Max is partial to a good ear, cheek, and chin scratch. In fact, he loves it so much that he rolls over on his back and purrs like an engine. Hearing his sweet rumble is so therapeutic and relaxing, if you listen to this you’ll be falling asleep before you know it!

While the Canada Lynx may be one of the most elusive and wise looking animals in North America who do their best to avoid human contact, Max is not fully wild. He is also not fully tame or domesticated either. He was born in captivity at a zoo but he was rescued, and these days he lives in his own indoor/outdoor enclosure with his caretaker, Bernadette Hoffman, in upstate New York.

She runs a program called Wildlife Education by Bernie which Max is a part of. He’s an education animal ambassador who helps teach school children and the general public about the ongoing need to both protect and respect our planet and the endangered species who call it home.

For centuries the Canada Lynx had endured and survived despite hunters who trap and kill them for their fur. In addition to hunting, an overall loss of habitat has led to their steady decline, so much so that in March of 2002 they were added to the endangered species list as threatened. Hopefully their population and numbers will rebound back to healthy levels.

Until then, wildlife ambassadors like Max will continue to raise awareness and spread hope for the survival of all threatened and endangered species everywhere. Check out his beautiful face and listen to the sweet purring noises he makes, they’ll definitely make you relax and feel at ease!

Animals can teach humans a lot about compassion and overcome differences. Although we are humans, and technically we should have humanity, but let’s agree that animals are better than us. The kind of torture some people expose animals to, it’s only fair to say that they’re far more advanced than we’d ever be.

In March 2012, Lawrence Anthony, a conservationist and author known as "The Elephant Whisperer", passed away.

His family spoke of a solemn procession of elephants that defies human explanation.

For 12 hours, two herds of wild South African elephants slowly made their way through the Zululand bush until they reached the house of Lawrence Anthony. The formerly violent, rogue elephants, destined to be shot a few years ago as pests, were rescued and rehabilitated by Lawrence.

They stood around the house in an apparent vigil for two days, and then dispersed.

"They had not visited the house for a year and a half and it must have taken them about 12 hours to make the journey," Lawrence's son Dylan said. "The first herd arrived on Sunday and the second herd, a day later. They all hung around for about two days before making their way back into the bush."

But how did the elephants know Lawrence had died?

"A good man died suddenly," says Rabbi Leila Gal Berner, Ph.D., "and from miles and miles away, two herds of elephants, sensing that they had lost a beloved human friend, moved in a solemn, almost 'funereal' procession to make a call on the bereaved family at the deceased man's home."

"If there ever were a time, when we can truly sense the wondrous interconnectedness of all beings, it is when we reflect on the elephants of Thula Thula. A man's heart's stops, and hundreds of elephants' hearts are grieving. This man's oh-so-abundantly loving heart offered healing to these elephants, and now, they came to pay loving homage to their friend."

Hope For Paws is one of the most amazing rescue organizations in the world. They have rescued and found homes for countless abandoned animals in need. The video below features one of their most recent rescues, and it’s one that really touched my heart. You are going to be drying your eyes when witness this precious pooch being rescued off the streets of LA.

This poor homeless dog was in a terrible state when she was rescued Hope For Paws had been informed about her severely matted fur, and when they witnessed her condition themselves, they couldn’t tell if she was a male or a female. Dolly was visibly frightened of the unexpected strangers, and every time they tried to approach her, she would growl at them. Eventually the managed to gain her trust, and now Dolly is a completely different pooch!
